After the
EV Focus, Ford continues to reveal a range in Detroit greener, with the C-Max Energi. This model is based on the European C-Max minivan but it embeds a lithium-ion battery, an electric motor and a combustion engine. The latter must operate when the battery is empty, but unlike the C-Max Hybrid, C-Max Energi does not charge by recovering energy during braking, but by plugging directly into a wall outlet. The goal is to ride as much as possible in zero emission mode and Ford announced a range of 800km (engine included). The C-Max Energi will be produced in Wayne, Michigan and sold in 2012.
